[Spring 2019] Scholarships for Undergraduate Degree-seeking Int'l Students

1) Application Period:  Tuesday, Jan 8 13:00 - Wednesday, Jan 16 17:00, 2019
2) Available Scholarships 
 a) Academic Excellence Scholarship 
    (No application required. If you’ve achieved an outstanding GPA, you will automatically be nominated)
 b) Academic Improvement Scholarship
 c) Need Based Scholarship
3) How to apply: KUPID (http//portal.korea.ac.kr) → Log In → Scholarship Application → Apply
4) Eligibility: 
- International students who got into KU with international students qualifications administered by the International Admission Team.
- Undergraduate international students who have attended the fall semester of 2018, and will continue to study at KU for the spring semester of 2019. 
  (Those who plan to take the upcoming semester off or graduate in Feb 2019, please do not apply)   
- Those who have achieved a minimum of 12 credits or more and a GPA of 2.0 or above including Fs in Fall 2018.

* Scholarship recipients will be notified by GSC by mid-August via email.
* Scholarship benefits would be directly applied on your tuition invoice as deductions. (It won’t be deposited into your bank account) 
* Global Services Center does not accept any late applications caused by technical errors occurred on a personal computer and any additional documents after the closing date.
* Scholarhips will be awarded as per the Korea University Bulletin – Constitution & Academic Regulations of Korea University.
 
※ Detailed Information
A) Academic Excellence Scholarship
 - Eligibility: Undergraduate int’l students who achieved an outstanding GPA in the fall semester of 2018.
 - Benefit: 100% of tuition for Spring 2019 
 - How to apply: No Application required 
B) Academic Improvement Scholarship 
 - Eligibility: Undergraduate int’l students who achieved a better GPA in the fall semester of 2018 compared to the one in the spring semester of 2018
   ▷ must have achieved a minimum of 12 credits in both semesters
   ▷ those who took the spring semester of 2018 off, can apply with the previous semester’s GPA
 - Benefit: 50% of tuition for Spring 2019

 * No additional documents required
C) Need Based Scholarship
 - Eligibility: Undergraduate int’l students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Those who need financial support to pay tuition. 
 - Benefit: 50% of tuition for Spring 2019
 - How to Apply: KUPID (http//portal.korea.ac.kr) → Log In → Scholarship Application → Apply
 - Additional documents required: 
   ① Explanatory Statement (*mandatory) – upload as an attachment to your online application on KUPID   
       : Explain about your current financial situation in detail
       : (Please find the attachment) Write more than two A4-size pages in length and save the file as 'student ID number Explanatory Statement.doc’ (word file) 
   ② Recommendation letter from professor (optional)
       : The department, name, signature of the professor and the date must be indicated.
       : The letter must address the financial hardships you’ve been going through in detail.
       : Only those letters which fulfill the above requirements will be considered.
       : Please save the file as (student ID number Recommendation letter.pdf or images)
   ③ Additional documents that reflect your current financial situation (optional)  
       : All documents must be submitted along with a copy of your ‘family relation certificate’ or any other official document that can replace the family relation certificate.
       : All documents must be either in Korean or English only.
       : Please save the file as (student ID number Document title.pdf or images)
